I worked on editing the album “One Bullet Revolution”. Obviously Mr. Pan[k]sament remains my main project, but I saved time and energy also to my other stuffs, the opening act for Mr. Pan[k]sament, so I have arranged some tracks also for the spoileD Jerks project.
The result is a material about 18 minutes, divided into two track: an incisive mix of the classic “Warm Leatherette” which is based on Trent Reznor’s version and “Avioane” – the extended and improved version of my precious “manea”.
For a limited period of time, 10 days from now on, this E.P. is aviable for FREE DOWNLOAD! Enjoy it!
Introducing for the first time live my side project, the spoileD Jerks to the audiance it was a new and exciting experience. Forther, the spoileD Jerks will be the opening act for my main act: Mr. Pan[k]sament.
Find some songs in the MUSIC BOX and see some videos in the VIDEO section. A new album it’s on the way.
It’s a mixture of creative DJ works with particular adds on and own creations. I put together two albums in 2005, now from this materials I make a new mix down of 62 minutes. To this material I added one bonus CD with two more tracks and 5 songs of my main project, Mr. Pan[k]sament. The bonus CD is the darker and heavier side of the project.
This bonus CD is aviable for free promotional download for the next 9 days from HERE.
Well, I get into a discussion about extreme vegetarianism, shit like “don’t kill animals for food” and stuff like this. Somebody argue that human beings are omnivorous by nature. It’s true, but that doesn’t mean a shit. The human being are very adaptive, can face and front many different situations, so, can be vegetarian as well as carnivore or omnivorous as – just for example – the bear.
Listen this, Leary know what he’s talking about- and save this!
But that’s not the point. I think we born dumb and we can stay that way or we can evolve or regress.
It’s up to all of us. No such thing as destiny, we just made it by our own hand to ourself.
I’m not a nice guy,but I’m not insensitive. I understand we have to protect the nature, the animals, insects and whatever! But I think we get too far. There are still people, human beings dying starving today on this goddamn planet! Who’s gonna save them? Who really cares? Nobody…
I’m an idiot, but I don’t refuse to be myself.
And I get back to Leary and yes, I admit that too: I’m an asshole. Welcome to this world.
Bucharest is still the city of pretties. The city of blinding… blondes. Well, since I saw all those Russian beauties at Kemer (Antalya, Turkey), I’m not that sure anymore…
It was Friday night, it was a noisy evening of Cybermental in The Silver Church Club when the girls came in. Detached, easy, smooth, well determined, conscious. They know what they want, they know they can get it and know how. Like some wild animals they were looking for the hunt.
Ghosts are dancing through the shades and smoke. Memories are nails burning through the night. I’m lost again and everything it turns upside down and it will swallow me…
The blonde one became the main attraction of the night. More important than the artist on the stage. In the spotlight she was the star. In all that madness I remembered Bob Dylan… Strangely. Blonde on Blonde… or Blonde on the tracks…
Anyway, you can take her with you if you’ve got what it takes.
I don’t.
„Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Evrybody knows
That babys got new clothes…”
Making a subculture festival in the period of serious crises and political, social and economical turbulences in a country as Romania is, it’s suicidal. Financially for sure. Cybermental it’s the result of an individual effort, without any sponsorship, at least not yet, and without a serious media support. While on the scene of mainstream – not only in Romania – the fake products get all the visibility, it’s getting harder and harder to show that music – and art – means something else then all those plastic products that the media sell us.
Tudor (a.k.a. AKM) it’s working 362 days for 3 days of fun and it’s an act of madness. But without this kind of guys our world would be gray. This year AKM Records reach its 6 years anniversary and Cybermental Festival to the 4th consecutive edition. The festival grows from year to year, this fall coming up with a pretty strong line-up and 3 days of intense madness in two well known locations.
The first night was at 30th September in the Rock/Metal club from the heart of the city, Şelari street no. 19, the club Suburbia http://suburbia.ro/ . For the price of the ticket of 15 RON (3 and half euro) the audience got a nice line-up of interesting newcomers of the Romanian Electro/Industrial movement: Mr. H, INDJS, SOSK, CLOCK : DIVIDER, NOETIC PURGE and DOMINUS.
Unfortunately, for some technical reasons, I didn’t made it there only for a few moments. I saw a little bit from the ending of one gig and a short intervention of Sosk. It was intense.
On 1st of October, the festival moved to a much bigger location, The Silver Church, located near to the downtown at Plevnei street no. 61.
The warming up was assured by one intense and exciting jam session of Brazda Lui Novac, Eklipse, Soks and Horatiu. It was extremely cool.
At 9 PM the stage was took over by one guest from Moldova Republic, Omul De Tinichea with an hour of soft, but interesting Electro/Ambient trip. Maybe a little bit too quiet, on and off the stage, but a good and nice act.
Omul De Tinichea
At 10 PM it was my turn, the debut of my new project: Mr. Pan[k]sament. I was a little bit stressed because of the technical problems I faced with my computer and audio card, but finally it works out quit well. I played the whole upcoming album “One Bullet Revolution” and the audience took it with interest. I hope soon I will find one guitarist and one keyboard/sampler player or DJ and the things will sound much more intense. My project was a drop of color by the much heavier, Metalcore approach and full vocals in the mass of Electro and mostly instrumental acts.
Eklipse take over after 11 PM. Razvan coming from Iasi and he came with a much noisier set list than he usually plays. His act was very electrifying, with explosive grooves and nice harmonies, a perfect mixture of heavy and soft parts in a fluid construction very well made it together.
Eklipse
Brazda Lui Novac get on the stage somewhere after midnight. He’s already a well known name of the Electro stage, one of the pioneers of it, so, as everybody expected, his act was perfectly professional and very well received by the audience. The set list of Victor reminds me of the “Ghosts” set of Nine Inch Nails, it was a soundly mixture of intense stuffs and soft constructions with sense and good taste.
Brazda Lui Novac
13th Monkey, the side project of Andreas “Thedi” Thedens from Kiew took the stage with a very intense and noise program. They played for more than one hour, strictly from my perspective, it was pretty tiring and after 20-30 minutes quit senseless. The hardware they bring on the stage sounds very heavy and it was an exiting experience to listing to it, but all the noise had no real content. Really, I have nothing against Noise Core and stuff, but sometimes – too many times – everything seems to come down only to rhythms and noise without any direction or sense.
13th Monkey
Next turn came AKM with a very noisy set of mixing. It was interesting, maybe also a little bit tiring for that hour and after a whole night of non-stop noising. Looking back, I think short breaks, much softer interludes or even moments of silence would helped the audience to keep focusing on the main acts and the breaks between acts could be a little bit quieter than they was. It was almost impossible to exchange a phrase or at least two words with somebody from 8 AM till almost the day break and what it’s much, sometimes it’s too much.
AKM
Roger Rotor was the guest star from Switzerland, unfortunately he get on the stage very late and in the front of a tired and shattered audience. He’s intense approach was somehow in heavy contrast with the capacity of reaction from us at that point. Roger it’s a nice and friendly guy, very professional and with a good taste of mixing heavy sounds and rhythms with musical elements above the noisy surface.
Roger Rotor
I should mention the visuals projections by Sfere, they did a very good job, putting on the screens interesting slides.
On 2nd October the warming up was brought by the same inexhaustible duo: Soks and Horatiu. Friday evening bring some more people to the club and not at least, some pretty girls.
At 10 AM Cycler took over with a chill, fluid, sensitive set of tracks. He’s a veteran of the festival and his colorful approach, the very tasty mixture of heavy and noisy interventions with the harmony full and soft construction was appreciated. Cycler is a promising and growing act.
Cycler
AKM – as host and not only – fill up the spaces between artists and re-wiring processes with his noisy sets of mixings.
Matze is another veteran figure of the Romanian Electro stage, his well shaped program, his mixtures and constructions, both on the harmonic and rhythmic sides, was very appreciated by the audience. He’s mixture of futuristic Electro sounds and rhythms with traditional romanian Pop, Rock and popular music it’s very refreshing and dynamic. He’s set also had a touch of Nine Inch Nails, but well melt down and build-in in his own world.
Matze
By a defection of the airplane and the delay of his flight, unfortunately Soman lost his gig. The bad luck of one became the fortune of the other: Roger got another chance to play before a larger audience in a much better timing. Roger gave one more energy full gig, an explosive and intense set of pure positive aggression.
Kiew from Germany, the headliners of the festival, from my point of view were very exhaustive. The German trio it’s too German for my taste, and when I say German, I mean it in the bad sense; they are linear, repetitive and unavoidably monotonous. What I think it’s they weakest point is the guitar player: he sounds like a recording from a toilette with a bad Santana concert and what he plays it’s also far off from what I think a guitarist should play. The first 2-3 songs were interesting, Thedi is a good front and show man, but he’s work on the hardware it’s a little bit chaotic and very noisy, practically he covered all the rest of the band. I admit that some people enjoy they performance, but many people leaved the club while they played and not only because of the late hour…
Kiew
It was deep in the night, far over midnight when after the Kiew show the band was joined by Brazda Lui Novac, Cycler and AKM and they came up with an eclectic Electro jam session. The idea was interesting and exciting, but finally it was nothing really different from the Kiew gig, so, it was tiring and pointless. Brazda and Cycler could bring some color to the Kiew, but it seems Thedi hold le leashes of the track.
jam session
Candlestickmaker reach the stage close to 3 o’clock in the morning, the audience slowly diluted in the dark and the cold autumn rain.
Candlestickmaker came with an interesting set of Electro/Ambient tracks with some nice Nine Inch Nails after-touch. He’s a promising young performer, probably – and hopefully – next year he will get a better exposure.
Candlestickmaker
The closing act was bring by Contorsionist with an energy full act in the tones of The Prodigy, for sure earlier in the evening he would had positive reaction, but at that time with the club getting empty and the left people tired, he wasn’t fully appreciated.
He’s 4 track EP “Departures”, released on 1st October it’s available for free download at Asilumm site and from what I heard at the festival, it worth a try.
In a few words that was Cybermental 4 this year. I hope next year there will be Cybermental 5, anniversary edition, even if things are getting worst here and no reasonable perspectives for improvement. But underground means resistance and we’re here to stay.
And here are some of the pictures I took, I hope it will gives a visual taste of the festival.
